[YEP-DC] Job: GreatSchools D.C. - Project Manager

GreatSchools DC Project Manager—Washington, DC (Full-time)

We are in our fourth year of an ambitious program to improve educational outcomes for DC children by inspiring and guiding parents to be involved. This project, a part of the GreatSchools Local initiative, drives innovation and proves results within the GreatSchools organization by partnering with a wide range of local DC organizations. Our goal is to demonstrate positive outcomes on children's learning by providing parents with technology-based tools that help them choose the right school for their children and support their children's educational success.

The GreatSchools DC Project Manager will work to drive initiatives within GS and within the DC community that provide high value to families. Most work will be conducted from Washington, DC; however, occasional travel to the GreatSchools San Francisco headquarters office may be necessary.

This is not your typical 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday, stay at your desk kind of job. Sometimes work will be required in the evenings or on weekends. You will be out in the community one day and at your desk the next; each day brings something different.

This position reports directly to the GreatSchools DC Program Director and is not a supervisory position.

·         Represent GSDC at community events; maintain and manage program event/workshop master calendar.

  • Implement a strategy to secure parent reviews for DC schools on the GreatSchools.org Web site.
  • Serve as the lead outreach staff member in Wards 1,2,3,4.

Data Management: (25%)

  • Ensure that School Profile information is collected and current (both online and print formats).
  • Initiate and maintain a database of all partnerships, users and materials distributed for GreatSchools.org.
  • Monitor projects and report status regularly.

Metrics & Assessment: (10%)

  • Implement GSDC program research or evaluation efforts with parents, schools, and partner organizations as needed.
  • Support national and local feedback efforts with parents and/or students for GreatSchools.org as needed.
  • Track program performance against goals, and as appropriate, develop and implement strategies to ensure goals are met.

Job Requirements and Related Experience:

The successful candidate for this position will be highly organized, tech savvy, have strong verbal and written communication skills, a passion for helping parents and demonstrated experience in training and community/political organizing.  Experience in education and fluency in Spanish is highly preferred.

The ideal candidate:

·         Has a Bachelor's Degree

·         Has 2-3 years' experience in managing complicated projects

·         Has experience in community and/or political organizing
