Position Summary
As a rapidly growing, entrepreneurial organization that aims to elevate the teaching profession by including all stakeholders in policy discussions, Hope Street Group is seeking an intern for our education team who is passionate about involving teachers in education policy. This role provides an excellent opportunity to learn about state and national reform efforts around teacher evaluation, engage with a network of education leaders, and interact with policymakers at all levels of government.
The Education Policy Intern will work with the Teacher Fellowship Manager primarily around teacher engagement efforts. This individual will work with our current group of National Teacher Fellows, help with the recruitment process for our next cohort of Fellows, and learn to manage vital organizational and state partnerships. Successful candidates will be self-starters, as well as demonstrate in-depth understanding of education policies and practices. Responsibilities include:
- Providing support for Fellowship Manager throughout the application process, which may include disseminating and promoting the Fellowship application, as well as participating in the selections process
- Managing, monitoring, and providing support for our online collaborative partnerships
- Strategizing on best practices for teacher engagement
- Participation in communications and social media to promote teacher engagement
Qualifications
- Graduate student studying education policy, public policy, public administration, economics, or a related field. Student should also have a strong interest in education policy and research. (Teaching experience is a plus!)
- Excellent editing and writing skills
- Self-motivated to work in a virtual environment
- Strong command of policy analysis
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, virtual, deadline oriented, dynamic environment with multiple ongoing responsibilities, and very high expectations for quality of work
- Collaborative team player, great listener and ability to work with diverse groups of people
- Passion for public service and Hope Street Group mission that will drive interest and commitment to our collaborative public policy model
- Passion for increasing opportunity and prosperity for all Americans
General Information
Internship schedules are flexible, but 10 hours/week and an availability of at least 2 days/week minimum are required through mid-December. This is a paid internship and the Manager will work with your school to satisfy any requirements for you to receive course credit.
