Good evening!

Howard University Middle School of Mathematics & Science is assisting in the judging for the Scholastic Writing Awards.

The Scholastic Writing Awards (www.artandwriting.org) is the largest, longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for teen writers in the country.

Celebrating 90 years of excellence, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have given students a chance to have their voices heard. They boast a noteworthy roster of past winners including Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon, Robert Redford and Joyce Carol Oates.

The road to local, regional and national recognition starts with submissions juried by qualified individuals in various areas. Jurors are needed now!

                  Dates:                  January 13-21, 2014

Location:                  Online (comfort of your home or office)

                  Commitment:         4 – 5 hours of reading/scoring over the 5 days

Compensation:         Participation in helping support a teen

Trying is an honorable failure. Make sure you are DOING all you can everyday!

Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so..
Love the people who treat you right.
Forget about the ones who don't.
Believe that everything happens for a reason.
If you get a chance , TAKE IT!
If it changes your life , LET IT!
Nobody said it would be easy...
They just promised it would be worth it!
