[YEP-DC] AmeriCorps VISTA Opening with Turning the Page

We are currently hiring for an AmeriCorps VISTA position at Turning the Page, a D.C. based non-profit committed to building family engagement in D.C. Public Schools. Please share the following position description with any potential candidates!

Member Duties: Our work is comprised of three core program areas: Families Learning Together, School Community Leadership and Linking Communities and Classrooms. As an Americorps VISTA with TTP you will be responsible for building the capacity of the core program areas along with developing and expanding new initiatives.

Service Description: Family Engagement is fundamental to students' success, which is why it is the cornerstone of our work. Turning the Page provides parents with access to resources and information that enable them to become more effective educators of their children at home, advocates for their children in school and leaders within their school community. Our work is comprised of three core program areas: Families Learning Together, School Community Leadership and Linking Communities and Classrooms. As an Americorps VISTA with TTP you will be responsible for supporting these core program areas along with developing and expanding new initiatives. Families Learning Together Community Nights are fun and interactive evenings that include parent workshops, child mentoring, book giveaways, and a family dinner. Community Nights help schools make stronger connections with their students' families and support parents as their children's most important teachers. Parents become stronger educators of their children at home and advocates for their children in school. School Community Leadership (Parent and Teacher) initiative goes beyond leadership trainings to provide extensive support and technical assistance to each of Turning the Page's partner school's parent-teacher organizations. Linking Communities and Classrooms enables AmeriCorps members and TTP staff to assist with creating home learning experiences that align with content taught during the school day.
