Music Lovers:
The decorated fir tree was first used in Germany about the time of Martin Luther. The German words "Oh Tannenbaum" was set to a tune which may be one of the oldest tunes in existence. It was so well known and loved in America, that the tune was used for "Maryland, My Maryland". That song (and tune) was sung by the Rebel Army as it moved north toward Gettysburg, to try and enlist Marylanders to its cause. (That attempt didn't work very well).
This version was recorded live at Coolfont Resort in Berkley Springs, W. Va. and includes "All Mixed Up” musicians:
Barry Wendell Rhythm Guitar & Lead Vocal
Ed Schaeffer Lead Guitar (87 Herringbone) & Harmony
Greg Nelson Bass
