I am serving on the Host Committee for 'Dianne's Recital,' an annual student showcase that supports local youth and raises funds for a nonprofit organization called The MusicianShip. The MusicianShip provides music lessons, experiences, and opportunities for at-risk youth in the DC area. I support The MusicianShip because because I too am a musician, and see wonders on the positive effects that Music has on our young people. Learning music, gives various skills that will help students in Math, Reading, Foreign Languages, History, and Science, just to name a few. , Although there are some amazing school programs in the DC area, there is really not a strong Music Education program within all of the schools. The Musicianship is a tool that can help give access to students who want to continue with their lessons in Music to reach greater heights, whether it be a scholarship to play at Howard Universities Marching Band, or a chance of a life time to play for prestigious Drum Corps Marching Bands (The Super Bowl for Band Geeks) this is a positive opportunity to help many work on their craft and become excellent musicians.
