Senior Policy Advisor-Educator Effectiveness
EducationCounsel LLC, in affiliation with Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP, based in Washington, D.C., is currently hiring for the position of Senior Policy Advisor. For our senior policy advisor position we are seeking intelligent, hard-working and resourceful individuals who possess strong analytical, research, writing, editing and facilitation skills as well as experience with project and client management. Applicants should also have a strong demonstrated interest in education policy. We are a results-oriented, mission driven team with ambitious goals around education reform.

Minimum requirements include significant professional experience such as an advanced degree, a minimum of 5-10 years of relevant work experience, significant expertise in educator effectiveness. Previous experience as a current or former highly effective educator as well as experience working in a position of leadership at an educational institution or at the federal, state, or local government levels is required. This role will focus on issues of educator effectiveness with a particular focus on professional development. Applicants should be familiar with a broad range of human capital issues (expertise in principal evaluation is a plus).
Specifically, our Senior Policy Advisors will be responsible for:

1. Managing Client and Partner Relationships: Represent the organization through extensive interaction with clients, partners, and other external parties including State Education Agencies, Local Education Agencies, National Level Organizations etc.
2. Managing Projects towards Successful Outcomes: Engage internal team members and external partners strategically including leading project-based teams, supervising staff, managing the work of others, delegating effectively and working in a collaborative fashion.
3. Leading and Facilitating the Delivery of Value & Content: Design and lead conference sessions and meetings, shepherd research and analysis around specific policy issues including drafting, editing and finalizing the production of policy memos, issue reports and miscellaneous presentations.

Policy Assistant
EducationCounsel LLC, in affiliation with Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP, based in Washington, D.C., is currently hiring for the position of Policy Assistant.

This position offers a tremendous opportunity for exposure to education policy and will develop skills that will be valuable in graduate study, law school or in more advanced education policy work. EducationCounsel is seeking candidates who can work with the policy advisors and attorneys on our team across a wide range of projects, and provide support in numerous and varying ways.
The ideal candidate is a graduate from an accredited 4 year college or university with a strong academic record, demonstrated success in professional and extracurricular pursuits and interest and or experience in the education field, including as an educator. Candidates with Capitol Hill experience through internships or fellowships are strongly encouraged to apply. The candidate should have strong research, writing, communication and organizational skills, and be analytical and detail oriented. Responsibilities will include: policy and legal research and basic analysis, attending Congressional hearings and providing summary analyses, proofreading and editing, managing external communications, assisting with meeting planning and execution including preparing agendas and managing meeting materials, and working on special projects as assigned. The candidate should be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment, and be able to work in a self directed manner while supporting members across the entire team.
