POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Broadcasters' Child Development Center Seeks a Center Director

This full-time position will oversee the activities of a highly-regarded, long-established, financially sound child development center located in Northwest Washington, DC. We are seeking a Director who can manage multiple tasks in a caring, nurturing, energy-filled environment.

Summary of Responsibilities

Direct the development and implementation of an ongoing program of learning and care activities that promote the optimal growth and development of the children and uphold the mission, values, and goals of the Center in all aspects of the role
 Communication Skills (interact with teachers, parents, and children with comfort and ease)
 Budget Management (work with the Board of Directors to identify budget priorities and work with other administrative staff to oversee Center finances)
 Personnel Management (day-to-day supervision and support of teachers and administrative staff, including providing a regular presence in classrooms to observe and assist as needed
 Regulatory Compliance (responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, including maintenance of student and staff files)
 Program Planning and Development (develop innovative programs for children and families consistent with the Center's mission)
 Board Relations (prepare updates for board meetings; maintain productive working relationship with the Board of Directors)
 Enrollment Management (maintain enrollment levels, waiting lists and appropriate flow of children through the Center's programs)
 Fundraising and strategic planning (creative thinking about development and future Center directions)
 Parent Involvement (plan, coordinate and participate in Center events; encourage parents to participate in Center programs and task forces)
 Community Involvement (interact with Directors of peer centers to exchange ideas and ensure Center remains one of the area's best)

Applicants must have a genuine love for working with children; B.A./B.S. in Early Childhood Education or related field, Master's degree is preferred; 3+ years' experience in management or administration of an organized child care or related setting to include budget management; 5+ years' classroom teaching; knowledge of early childhood curriculum, familiarity with Creative Curriculum preferred; experience with the NAEYC accreditation process; ability to fulfill DC licensing regulations and requirements of other governmental bodies; passion for early childhood education; results-driven attitude; strong, persuasive written and verbal communications skills; strong time management skills; strong organizational skills; ability to give and receive feedback; ability to conduct difficult conversations professionally; ability to adapt to changing situations; proficient computer skills; professional demeanor; and ability to handle confidential information appropriately. The Director will report to the Board of Directors.
