Join Reading All-Stars - Help a Kid Learn to Read on Saturdays!

Reading All-Stars is a volunteer reading program at Walker-Jones Education Campus, where 99% of students are from low-income families. This spring, we helped our students make 30% more reading gains than the rest of the school. We meet from 10am-noon each Saturday morning, and you'd be paired with a K-5 student who's 1-2 grade levels behind, helping them improve on targeted reading skills. Don’t worry if you’ve never taught literacy or elementary grades: all you need is a commitment to closing the achievement gap. We are looking for more volunteers to help even more students.

Want to learn more? Come to one of our upcoming orientations:

    Saturday, September 6th - 11:00am

    Saturday, September 13th - 11:00am

Do you Have Teaching or Management Experience? Consider Helping Out as a Coordinator!

In addition to reading volunteers, we are looking for Young Ed Professionals to help out as volunteer coordinators. Coordinators recruit and train volunteers, analyze student data, plan reading skill workshops, and work with parents, students, teachers, and principal to make the program run. Sign up for an orientation above, and stay for a half hour afterward to find out about getting involved as a coordinator.
