ABOUT THE ROLE
The Strategic Planning Specialist serves as PCSB's analysis and planning leader on issues related to charter school supply and demand, expansion, facilities, and collaborative planning.  The Strategic Planning Specialist will manage and execute a wide range of activities in support of strategic planning around the growth, location, and demand for DC public charter schools. Additionally the Strategic Planning Specialist will support and manage special projects as they arise. Examples of previous special projects include the Neighborhood Preference Taskforce, Common Core Conference for school leaders, and the city-wide common lottery.  The Strategic Planning Specialist reports to the Chief Operating Officer and works with staff across the organization and external partners and stakeholders.

 ABOUT YOU

  • Strong candidates will have the following qualifications, skills and experiences:
  • Superior creative problem-solving, analytical, and quantitative skills; ability to synthesize data and information from multiple sources, develop insights and recommendations and convey complex information through the use of supporting tables, graphs and other visual representations.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and managing multiple complex projects; ability to structure ambiguous problems, initiate and drive projects with minimal direction, manage up and across, internally and externally, to reach goals.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex concepts in writing or verbally for all levels with a broad & diverse audience
  • The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a range of stakeholders and across organizations.
  • Deep passion for educational equity and belief in PCSB's mission and vision.
  • Experience in the public sector or urban public school districts or charter schools strongly preferred
  • Advanced proficiency of MS Excel and PowerPoint required; experience with statistical analysis and software preferred (SAS, SPSS, or R.)
  • 2+ years strategy and consulting experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA, MPA, or related degree preferred.
