[YEP-DC] JOB OPENING: Community School Coordinator at Carlin Springs Elementary School in Arlington, Virginia

Dear YEP community,

Arlington Public Schools is looking to hire a new Community Schools Coordinator at Carlin Springs Elementary School.

About our Community School:
Using the public school building as a hub, the Carlin Springs Community School offers a range of academic, health, social, and emotional supports to students and their familiesthrough community partner organizations and volunteers. Partners share their expertise and resources with school staff to create a more effective learning environment and support for families. Most of the services associated with the community school "wrap around" the regular instructional day, occurring before and after school and in the evenings.

About the Position:
The Coordinator is responsible for working with school staff, parents, and community organizations to sustain the current partnerships, continue identifying what services and relationships are needed; and identify additional resources accordingly. Areas of focus include: parent involvement, leadership development, and skill-building; health and mental health services for families; and oversight over the comprehensive package of after–school enrichments and tutoring that are included in the Community School.

The Coordinator will work closely with the Carlin Springs principal and other school leadership to ensure that the partnerships and activities support the overarching goal of student academic success. He/she reports to the Carlin Springs Principal.

The complete job description and process for applying can be found on the Arlington Public Schools website at:

I am not the principal or hiring official; I am a teacher at the school.  But if you have any questions, I'd be happy to point your in the right direction.

Thanks,
Eric Sokolove
