As students in the District of Columbia Public Schools head back to school this Monday, teachers will be faced with combating summer learning loss. Research shows that all students lose learning opportunities in the summer but that summer learning loss disproportionately affects poor students. In this Recess Field Day round table, we asked our contributors, all of whom are current or former teachers, to provide solutions for how to combat summer learning loss at the beginning of the school year.
