[YEP-DC] Help with High School Robotics Team!

For the past two years, the E.L. Haynes robotics team has been competing in the First Robotics Competition in the Washington D.C. Regional. This competition requires students to build a 100-120 pound robot that can perform a variety of tasks, including shooting frisbees the length of a basketball court and picking up and throwing a large exercise ball. To accomplish this task, we rely on the help of mentors outside of school- I'm not a mechanical engineer by trade, so we would love anyone who has experience to help us out!

If you know anyone who is an engineer by trade, who works in a place with engineers, who likes tinkering with things in the garage, or who just likes hanging out with kids and helping them solve tricky problems, I would love to get in touch with you.

We will be meeting approximately once per week starting the week of September 2nd until November and twice per week from November until early January. On January 3rd, we find out the details of this year's competition, and from then until February 17th is a mad dash to build our robot! We will meet every day from 4:30 until 6:30, and at least one day each weekend. We then must put our robot in a bag until March 25th, when we take it to the D.C robotics regional competition at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.

Any amount of time that you can spend with us would be hugely appreciated-you can commit to as much or as little as you would like based on what your schedule accommodates. If you are busy and can only come once or twice, that is still tremendously valuable to our students. Included are a few pictures of them hard at work.

Thank you,
