[YEP-DC] [Education Nonprofits] Apply for a Capital Cause Monetary Grant! - Deadline 2/28/13

Capital Cause is pleased to announce its 2013 Cycle of Capital Giving Circles Grants!

Capital Cause is a fiscally-sponsored nonprofit that enables a new generation of young philanthropists to maximize their charitable impact through collective giving.  In order to achieve this mission, Capital Cause engages members in attending fundraisers, participating in service projects and funding micro-grants to local nonprofit organizations. Since 2009, Capital Cause has awarded nearly 20 micro-grants to deserving nonprofits across the Washington Metropolitan Area, and your nonprofit could be next!

I am writing to extend a special invite to your nonprofit to apply a Giving Circles Micro-Grant.  A Giving Circles Micro-Grant  funds specific projects that meet the programmatic needs of a nonprofit.

Please see below for examples of past Giving Circles Micro-Grants:
  • Capital Cause Young Philanthropists Funded Generation Hope's annual leadership conference for young mothers enrolled in college
  • Capital Cause Young Philanthropists Funded scholarships for students to attend The Musicianship's Signature Summer Program
  • Capital Cause Young Philanthropists Funded the purchase of 50 grocery baskets for 50 low-income, Ward 7 DC Public School families
  • Capital Cause Young Philanthropists Funded a Free Community Laundry Day benefiting 36 families and 75 children living in DC's Ward 8

In order to be eligible for a Giving Circles Micro-Grant your nonprofit must:

1.  Be a 501c3 charitable organization as defined by the IRS
2.  Submit a completed Capital Cause Capital Giving Circles Grant Application that details a specific funding project
3.  Participate in Capital Cause's Capital Giving Circles Pitch Contest on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 12noon.
4.  Fit into one of Capital Cause's focus areas:

  • Reducing educational disparity
  • Eradicating poverty
  • Creating access to affordable healthcare or creating access to items or programs needed to stay healthy
  • Reducing a community's carbon footprint

Qualifying organizations can complete our online application here: http://www.capitalcause.com/capital-bank/apply

Applications are accepted until February 28th at 11:59pm.

Please send any questions, comments, or concerns to Darla Bunting, Capital Director - capital@capitalcause.com.
