Position Description
Programs Director
M.O.M.I.E's TLC's Program Director will support the management of all aspects of the After School and Safe Haven Summer Programs, which operates at Carmody Hills Elementary in Capitol Heights MD.
The Program Director will expend approximately 80% of their time in providing management, direct support, and program evaluation for the After School Program and associated activities. Approximately 20% of time will be expended in upholding excellent grant reporting and compliance standing with Maryland's 21st Century Community Learning Program grant.
Responsibilities and Duties
Program Administration
1 Manage the effective implementation of key After School Program components including: Meditation/Conflict Resolution; Academic Support and Tutoring Time; the Great Persons Series; Self-Directed Time; Field Trips; and other creative activities.
2 Manage the development of curriculum, teaching, daily implementation, and documentation of the Great Persons Series.
3 Ensure safety and well-being of children.
4 Oversee and collaborate with Program teachers on the process of creating individual academic learning plans and goals for each child with specific emphasis on strengthening reading; as well as assist with homework completion and complementing school work/goals.
5 Providing direct support for children in the areas of academic advancement, homework help, socio-emotional development, supplementary education activities, and other creative and/or self directed activities.
6 Support the management of school records collection including report cards and standardized testing.
7 Oversee and implement service learning programs.
8 Support Program Evaluation efforts, both internal and external, including implementing evaluation methods and strategies; collecting data; and other; Work closely with external evaluator to implement evaluation.
9 Overseeing administrative functions as it relates to Program implementation.
10 Superior management and reporting of the 21st Century Community Center Learning grant program.
11 Superior relationship building with partners, grantor, and other key stakeholders.
12 Manage After School Program budget.
13 Supporting the strengthening and development of new Program operational procedures, policies, and systems for the After School Program.
Staff/Volunteer/Parent Support and Engagement
1 Supervise staff and volunteers.
2 Manage partnership of aides and work study students from Prince Georges Community College.
3 Establish a parent communications plan to consistently communicate with parents and conduct check-in meetings throughout the academic year and support the implementation of group parent meetings (as well as community conferences around child-specific concerns).
4 Support day-to-day parent communications.
5 Establish teachers/schools communications plan to consistently communicate and meet with teachers, including during parent-teacher conferences, to assess children's progress and implement supports.
6 Design and implement trainings for tutors and core staff.
7 Providing day-to-day support and guidance for University Tutors.
Partner Cultivation/Community Engagement
1 Serve as main contact for our core partners.
2 Overseeing and managing partnership and administrative duties as it relates to core Partners: AlphaFit LLC; Walking On Water; EdLyrics, PGCC, and others
3 Explore new potential partners to benefit and enhance the After School Program.
4 Provide services that parents will benefit from after completing a needs analysis; i.e GED Program, financial literacy, ESL, etc.
Other Misc:
1 Vehicle required for work
2 Attendance of full-staff meetings each month.
3 Attendance at external meetings if necessary, including partner meetings.
4 Other Misc. activities as it relates to the After School Program.
Experience:
1 College Degree highly recommended.
2 3 to 5 years of Program management, Program development, and direct service experience with children and youth.
3 Experience with grant compliance, reporting, writing, and general administration, preferably with the 21st Century Community Learning grant program.
4 Significant experience in supervision and training of staff and volunteers.
5 Phenomenal organizational skills.
6 Excellence in curriculum development through creativity and critical thinking.
7 Punctuality, reliability, and accessibility are critical.
8 Excellence in communication skills, and strong ability to build meaningful relationships with core partners, including parents, children, school principal/administrators, program staff, and others.
9 Strong writing skills.
10 Passion for social justice, history, and cultural awareness.
