[YEP-DC] CHCI's High School Latino Leaders in D.C.

Good Morning:

I hope this email finds you all well. I wanted to share information with you regarding the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute's summer high school program, High School Latino Leaders in D.C. CHCI will bring approximately 40 Latino high school students to D.C. to spend six days learning about how the Federal Government works, meeting key leaders, visiting historic sites and developing a deeper understanding of how they can affect positive change in their communities and their nation. The program, which will take place July 14-19, is completely FREE of charge to all selected student participants.

Any Latino 9th, 10th, or 11th grade student who resides in the District of Columbia; Montgomery or Prince George's Counties in Maryland; or Alexandria City or Arlington and Fairfax Counties in Virginia is eligible to apply (detailed eligibility requirements can be found here). CHCI has identified only a small number of geographic regions where we are recruiting students; as such, we have reserved spaces for DMV area students. Applications are now available online and must be submitted by April 8, 2013 at 11:59pm Eastern Standard Time.

I have attached an informational letter as well as a program brochure and flyer that you can share with the students in your school/program. You may also use the HSLLDC Prezi presentation to host information sessions to encourage students to apply. I would greatly appreciate any assistance you can provide in ensuring that students hear about this exciting opportunity.

Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can assist with promoting the program to your students in any way. Thank you!

Best,
