DC Public Education Fund (the Education Fund) is seeking a talented graduate student focused on fundraising and communications to assist in our mission to dramatically improve student achievement in the District of Columbia by serving as a strategic partner to businesses, foundations, community leaders, and individual donors in supporting and investing in high-impact programs with the District of Columbia Public Schools.

Position Summary:
The graduate intern will support the development and implementation of a comprehensive communications and messaging strategy to raise awareness and support for projects that are part of the DCPS' system-wide reform initiatives, and will work with the development team to draft and submit proposals to funders.
Core Responsibilities:
The Education Fund graduate intern will have three major areas of work:
· He/she will assist in assembling profiles and compiling research on existing and potential funders for DCPS programs and initiatives and maintaining recordkeeping systems and files for existing major donors.
· He/she will work with our communications team to draft content around our programs, including development of content for the Education Fund's website and marketing brochures.
· He/she will work with the development team to create proposals and manage projects to support strategic reform initiatives for DCPS.
This internship gives unique insight into the donor cultivation process, fundraising practices, and various DCPS initiatives.
Requirements:
Candidates should have a passion for education reform and a belief that all children deserve an excellent education. Candidates should enjoy working in a results-oriented, fast-paced, and entrepreneurial environment. A successful candidate will possess:
§ Bachelor's degree from a leading university and currently enrolled or graduating from a master's program.
§ At least 1-2 years of professional experience.
§ Strong interest in fundraising.
§ Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
§ Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven, fast paced environment.
§ Top-notch writing skills.
§ High level of personal responsibility, initiative, and motivation, and an ability to drive projects forward and be persistent, as well as be flexible and patient.
§ Excellent interpersonal skills and real facility working with a wide range of individuals, strong collaborative teamwork skills.
Program Dates & Compensation
§ Spring Semester, Part-time (unpaid)
§ Summer Semester, Full-time (stipend may be available)
