DC Public Charter School Board has an opening for a high achieving college student or graduate student in Washington, DC who is interested in learning more about DC charter schools, education-related grants, and philanthropic organizations. The Development Intern position provides a stellar opportunity for a motivated person to gain hands-on professional fundraising and communications skills and expertise. The Development intern, an unpaid position, will assist with grant preparation, prepare correspondence with donors, update our donor database, research grant opportunities, and prepare information for print materials, case studies, and proposals. Through their work with PCSB, interns will also gain a great deal of knowledge about the public education system in DC, the challenges it faces, and the charter school sector.
About the Internship
The PCSB Internship Program is currently accepting applicants from rising college juniors and seniors as well as students enrolled in graduate programs.
During the spring, interns are expected to contribute 15 hours/week of their time. Exact days and times are determined in conjunction with the intern's manager. This role has the potential to also be a summer internship.
In addition to working directly with our staff on engaging projects, interns benefit from a variety of professional development opportunities including participation in discussions on various topics in education, mentorships, and opportunities to network and learn about education policy by attending events in Washington, D.C.
We are happy to work with your school to satisfy any requirements for you to receive course credit. Internships are unpaid.
Qualifications
- College junior or senior, recent college graduate, or graduate student,
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills,
- Strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently as well as with a team, and detail-oriented,
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office required,
- Commitment to the mission of providing quality public school options for DC students, families, and communities,
- Ability to solve problems and juggle a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment,
- Adaptability, initiative, and a desire to reflect and receive constructive feedback is essential.
