[YEP-DC] Cesar Chavez Public Charter School- Experiential Learning Coordinator needed

Experiential Learning Coordinator, Department of Public Policy (Four Month Position)

Cesar Chavez Public Charter School for Public Policy, Washington, DC

 

The Experiential Learning Coordinator will develop and facilitate the implementation efforts for authentic, real world experiences that empower Chavez scholars. The Coordinator will serve all four Chavez campuses as a member of the Public Policy Department and report to the Director of Public Policy and Curriculum Innovation. The position will begin immediately and end July 1st.

Specific duties:

·         Collaborate with the Experience Learning Manager to identify and prepare host organizations for 11th grade internship program

·         Coordinate the internship hosts' participation in orientations and interview fairs

·         Support campus-internship managers in matching students and hosts for the internship program as well as supporting managers throughout
        the internship program

·         Communicate with key partners for advocacy projects, authentic performance tasks, public policy courses, and events

·         Coordinate partnerships components for advocacy projects for each grade level.  (e.g. work with City Council staff to coordinate Chavez 6th 
        Grade City Council Project)
·         Identify and develop relationships with partners to speak for students, host community service projects, and provide advocacy opportunities  
        for public policy end-of-year courses for 9th and 10th grade students. 

·         Assist with professional develop for end-of-year public policy courses

·         Support teachers in implementation the curriculum for the public policy end-of-year courses

·         Support tangible efforts to increase students' development as public policy experts (e.g. public policy-related clubs)

·         Provide logistical support to the Public Policy department

 

Qualifications:

·       Bachelor's degree

·       At least one year in education, project management, or public policy/affairs
     experience required

·       Intellectual curiosity, love of reading, constant learning, continuous improvement

·       Commitment to research-based decision making

·       Strong follow-through and ability to efficiently execute complex tasks

·       Ability to learn quickly

·       Collaborative and solutions-focused

·       Immediately  (position ends July 1st)
