EVERYONE LEADS SERIES:  SETTING UP YOUNG ADULTS FOR EDUCATIONAL AND ECONOMIC SUCCESS

 

Public Allies will host its next community forum in the Everyone Leads Series, focused on setting up young adults to successfully complete high school and get on a pathway to economic security.   RSVP now to join us for all or part of the day.

10:00 AM - 12:00 PM:   Setting the stage.  This segment includes perspectives on the current issues that affect young people and education in our region. 
 
Speakers include:
Shirley Marcus Allen, Venture Philanthropy Partners
Anne Abbott, DC Alliance for Youth Advocates
Jean Boland, School Without Walls Home & School Association President
Julius Foster, Cardozo HS PTA President & Cleveland ES Parent 
 
 
12:00 PM -1:30 PM:  A Focus on What's Working.This segment includes a spotlight on what's working to help young people successfully complete high school and get on a pathway to economic success through public schools, community colleges, corporate and grassroots efforts.  
 
Panelists include:
 
Jennifer Bradley Heflin, Accenture
Maria Escobar, Action in Montgomery
Syreeta Evans, Children and Youth Investment Trust Corporation
Tony Johnson, OSSE Career and Technical Education
Dr. Theodore Thompson, DCPS Office of School Turnaround
 
1:30-3:00 PM:  Conversation Cafe.  This segment features small group breakouts for participants to propose solutions and connect with allies on topics including creating high quality neighborhood schools, engaging opportunity youth, effective parent and community engagement or topics of their choice.
