Who Is Share My Lesson?
Share My Lesson provides over 250,000 lesson plans and classroom resources online, while hosting a broad professional learning community for interaction and support. With the advent of the Common Core State Standards, teachers need more support than ever to assist them in being as effective as possible.  Share My Lesson is a joint venture of the American Federation of Teachers, a 1.7M member association of professional educators, and TSL Education, a British digital publishing company, creator of TES Connect, a global education resources sharing site boasting over 2.5MM subscribers.  As a start-up, the organization is financially backed by the two founding organizations and relies heavily on in-kind contributions of employees from each.

Position 1:  Digital Marketing Manager

Share My Lesson requires a digital marketing manager with experience handling promotional competitions, as well as experience of planning and implementing digital advertising campaigns. Ideally, the candidate will be working in retail or a similarly fast moving environment and be used to constantly planning and delivering new promotions and campaigns. With a good working knowledge of promotional law and CAN-SPAM regulations, this person will be comfortable coming up with new ideas and implementing them.  The role also requires experience of planning and running advertising campaigns from the tactical level all the way to more general brand campaigns.
Reporting to the EVP of Share My Lesson, you will be working alongside a small team of marketing colleagues who can frequently collaborate on projects and share in the general work of promoting Share My Lesson. We are looking for someone with passion and creative flair, who understands the value of analytics data in improving outcomes, who wants to join a dynamic and ambitious company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing, implementing and tracking A/B tested email campaigns, contests, and banner advertising
  • Researching and leveraging social media trends and tools. Researching and writing content for website, newsletter and social media vehicles.
  • Managing all advertising campaigns on Facebook and Google Adwords
  • Tracking ROI from social media, inbound marketing, and digital advertising campaigns.
  • Optimizing landing pages through multivariate testing.
  • Liaising with all parts of the business to ensure the maximum impact of each campaign.
  • Working with PR and social media teams to integrate promotions and campaigns.
  • Assisting the EVP in putting together a marketing plan including specific advertising, PR and media plans.
Essential Skills:
  • Proactive, self starter with energy and passion.
  • Articulate and able to rapidly absorb data and information in order to prepare reports and presentations.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills are required to work in this fact paced, growing business.
  • Full of ideas but also ability to plan how to bring them to life.
  • Responsibility for managing agencies and internal stakeholders to maximize the impact of promotions.
  • Demonstrable financial responsibility and budget management.
  • Understanding of the role that PR and social media play in driving the maximum impact from campaigns.
  • Ability to work with and across many internal departments to deliver projects.
Experience:   
  • Marketing experience in a fast moved environment, possibly retail or online.
  • Sales promotion and/or retail promotion experience.
  • Digital marketing experience including familiarity with social media, PPC, SEO and email marketing.
  • Experience devising and implementing promotions that have had an impact on sales.
  • Consumer understanding as demonstrated through qualitative and quantitative research.
  • International research/consumer understanding would be advantageous

Position 2:  Digital Content Manager
Share My Lesson requires an exceptionally talented educator to drive the collection and development of standards-aligned resources in support of US teachers.  This will include reviewing content, generating expert teams of content reviewers and writers, and the ability to select and promote exceptional resources on the SML site.  This role requires a proactive and dynamic individual who can drive the allocated work streams necessary to improve the SML website content and its organization.

Reporting to the EVP of Share My Lesson, you will be working alongside a small team of marketing colleagues who can frequently collaborate on projects and share in the general work of promoting Share My Lesson. We are looking for a talented educator with broad awareness of the Common Core State Standards and the use of curriculum in the classroom.  This person serves as the voice of teachers in the SML organization, ensuring that the content generated and highlighted meets the demands of US educators.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring the ongoing development and tagging of resources to support US teachers seeking to deliver CCSS aligned lessons
  • Provide analysis of SML content, identifying gaps and opportunities to better serve US teachers
  • Develop and support an informal network of content experts for SML; including development of some content superstars for web chats, etc.
  • Lead the writing of copy for resources newsletters and identify quality, relevant and topical resources to drive downloads; coordinating resource submissions from subject advisors.
  • Advocate uploading of resources; refer potential content partners to TSL
  • Liaising with AFT Educational Issues, providing support on content projects, tracking deadlines and production
  • Liaising with TSL Digital Production, coordinating development projects to ensure SML support of new content development
Essential Skills:
  • Understanding of Primary and Secondary education system and an in-depth understanding of curriculum.
  • Demonstrable excellent writing and proof reading skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Initiative to drive things forward.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace in a high pressure environment.
  • Knowledge of standard office equipment and computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using a content management system (CMS) is desirable.

Experience:
  • Experience within the education sector is essential, preferably as a teacher, in order to identify and highlight resources, understand what constitutes a good resource in the classroom and what the curriculum requires.

Position 3:  Marketing Events Coordinator
Share My Lesson requires an events manager to support its trade show and affiliate events activities in promotion of SML.   Meeting people in person to ask them to join Share My Lesson is a key strategy in our growth over the next few years.

Reporting to the EVP of Share My Lesson, you will be working alongside a small team of marketing colleagues who can frequently collaborate on projects and share in the general work of promoting Share My Lesson. We are looking for a hard-working, detail oriented events manager who can manage a series of trade show events and affiliate promotions, with dozens of moving parts in each.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Managing trade show logistics and scheduling.
  • Conducting on-going analysis of ROI on trade show strategies.
  • Managing leads and input of onsite registrations.
  • Supporting special SML and affiliate events.
  • Soliciting presentation opportunities at conferences in support of event strategy.
  • Coordinating production of printing, signage, tschotskes, etc.
  • Liaising with AFT Educational Issues, providing support on special events.
  • Providing general support to the entire marketing team as assigned.

Essential Skills:
  • Working knowledge of key marking processes.
  • Experience with supporting trade shows and education events.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Initiative to drive things forward.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace in a high pressure environment.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office.

Experience:
  • Experience with events marketing is highly desirable.
  • Trade show experience is preferable, although conference planning experience is adequate.
