[YEP-DC] DC Voice: High School Testing Project and Ready Kids Project Community Meetings 1/31 & 2/7

DC VOICE is hosting identical community meetings to release and discuss our High School Student Testing Project and this Fall's Ready Kids Project. The Testing Project assesses the impact of standardized tests on high school students and recent graduates.  The study was funded, in part, by the Community Foundation for the National Capital Region's Collaborative for Education Organizing and the report authored by American University School of Education, Teaching and Health.  DC VOICE sought to ascertain how the administration of standardized tests affects student attitudes towards school and learning.

The Ready Kids Project looks at the readiness of our young children for kindergarten through interviews with kindergarten teachers and school counselors across the city. This was done in partnership with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation who funded this project and Howard University School of Education who has assembled the findings stemming from this project.

The DC VOICE Board of Directors will be on hand to discuss immediate action steps stemming from this and other important DC VOICE work.
