Tuesday, February 5, Expanding Minds and Opportunities: Leveraging the Power of Afterschool and Summer Learning for Student Success a release event at the National Press Club from 8 to 11 AM EST and via live webcast

Students need a range of interventions to ensure success. Now, more than ever before, we have the evidence and experience to show that expanded learning opportunities can improve learning outcomes for young people.

Plan to attend the release of a groundbreaking book, Expanding Minds and Opportunities: Leveraging the Power of Afterschool and Summer Learning for Student Success, edited by Terry K. Peterson, Ph.D. This landmark publication is a compendium of studies, reports and commentaries by more than 100 thought leaders including elected officials, educators, researchers, advocates and other prominent authors. The compendium comprises over 400 pages of bold and persuasive evidence from the field that engaging opportunities‹drawing from robust partnerships‹yield positive outcomes for students and for community and family engagement in learning. The event and publication are made possible by the C.S. Mott Foundation in conjunction with the Expanded Learning and Afterschool Project.

The release event will be at the National Press Club, 529 14th St, NW, Washington, DC, featuring a panel discussion and dialogue with compendium authors. Breakfast and book signing from 8 to 9 AM. Program from 9 to 11 AM. To register to attend or sign up for the live webcast, go to www.expandinglearning.org/expandingminds.
