Re: [dcab-l] Fwd: Ric Nelson

How sad. I knew Ric and had picked with him years ago.
I have a copy of the Luke Gorden project he played on.

It is with great sadness that I tell you that my friend and musician, Ric Nelson, died on Monday, January 14th.  He is the one (who I mentioned many times in my e-mails about Patsy) who played in the band with Patsy Cline when she came to the Washington, DC, area.  The band was "Luke Gordon and the Drifters" and Ric had been the last remaining band member alive.

Ric loved to talk about "Pats" and he relayed many great stories to me which I shared with you all over the past year during my Patsy Cline Cover Project.  He was a great guy and all who knew him will miss him very much!

The day before he died he spent the afternoon jamming...singing and playing his Dobro.  He was always excited to play and had invited me to join in that Sunday afternoon, but I couldn't make it. That, I will always regret.

Rest in peace, Ric!

Always,
Patsy
