ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:
KIPP DC is a network of high-performing, college-preparatory charter schools in Washington D.C., which serve the city's under-resourced communities. POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Instructional Technology Coach will be responsible for overseeing and executing instructional technology training and implementation across our PK-12 network of schools. The Coach's primary focus will be to assist School Leaders, Lead Teachers and Capital Teaching Residents to innovate in their classrooms and to successfully integrate the use of effective strategies and multiple technologies in order to differentiate and enhance student learning. This position will report to the Director of Instructional Technology and Innovation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Professional Development & Training
- Plan and facilitate school-based high-quality professional development for teachers, in groups or individually to refine their knowledge of and skills with instructional technology software and systems
- Collaborate with vendors to develop best-in-class training
- Model the effective use of technology integration strategies and multiple technologies into lesson plans and instructional practice across content areas and grade levels
- Work with Capital Teaching Residents to design and implement technology plans for their classrooms
- Provide one-on-one observation and coaching on effective practices in incorporating instructional technology into PK-12th Grade classrooms
- Collaborate with Chief Academic Officers and Instructional Coaches to implement curriculum through the use of technology
B. Identifying Needs
· Research and test educational software and hardware technologies to support PK-12 instruction
· Support the Director of Instructional Technology and Innovation in new software pilots and roll-out across KIPP DC's four campuses
C. Monitoring Effectiveness
- Establish tools to monitor the effective use of technology integration strategies into curriculum
- Provide reporting and analysis to School Leaders, Data Team and Development Team for grant reporting purposes
Serve as a full-time and engaged member of KIPP DC's staff, including accompanying students on field lessons, assisting with student recruitment and enrichment activities, and working with other staff members to ensure fulfillment of KIPP DC's mission.
REQUIREMENTS:
Technical depth
· 2+ years of classroom teaching experience with a track record of successful technology integration and strong student achievement
· Passion for data, technology and blended learning, with experience in an educational institution
· Ability to identify and evaluate software and make recommendations for its use across all grade levels and content areas
· Experience with the following is preferred:
o Instructional and adaptive curriculum: Waterford, Lexia, Dreambox, iStation, Accelerated Reader
o Devices: iPads, Chromebooks, student response systems
o Interactive whiteboards: SMART and PolyVision/Steelcase
Project management and training experience
· Track record of achievement in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines and high degree of ambiguity
· Ability to design, individually and in collaboration with others, high quality training for teachers
· Demonstrated ability to motivate and teach adults in a variety of instructional settings
Communications and teamwork skills
· Articulate, professional demeanor with strong self-confidence, initiative, and leadership skills
· Talent for working productively with a diverse range of people
· Ability to present sophisticated technical solutions and recommendations to staff in non-technical plain English
· Experience in teacher leadership, demonstrated through formal and informal school leadership and initiatives
Other skills and traits
· Bachelor's Degree required
· Exceptional work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit to accommodate a high level of responsibility and multiple priorities
· Unquestioned integrity and commitment to KIPP DC's mission
· Passion for education and a desire to help KIPP DC schools grow
