The Internship Coordinator works with a small team of co-workers as a part of a summer-adventure based program for underserved and at-risk youth. City Kids Wilderness Project's mission is to inspire confidence and leadership in children and teens from inner city Washington, D.C. We provide a multi-year experiential curriculum of outdoor adventures, backcountry trips, personal growth, and internship opportunities during three summer sessions. Base camp is our beautiful ranch, Broken Arrow Ranch, in Hoback Junction just south of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The City Kids Internship program provides a structured internship/job experience outside the CKWP program for youth who have completed the camper phase of the City Kids Program. Each intern is placed in an individual internship according to personal interests and qualifications.
The Internship Coordinator is the logistical coordinator, primary mentor, daily supervisor for all interns in the JET Program. The Internship Coordinator is responsible for the daily logistics of each intern's placement, including; providing or arranging transportation to and from internship sites, regular contact with each intern's supervisor, requesting and responding to evaluation/feedback on each intern's performance. As the primary mentor and support staff for all interns the Internship Coordinator is responsible for nightly debriefs with interns, one-on-one check-ins with individuals, and weekly evaluations with interns. This is a full-time/ residential position requiring the Internship Coordinator to live on-site with 5-6 interns. Daily supervisory responsibilities include; nightly and free-time supervision, and behavior and group management as necessary.
