[YEP-DC] DQC Hiring Communications & External Affairs Associate

Job Description: Coordinate, implement, and monitor the Data Quality Campaign (DQC) efforts to strategically communicate with internal and external stakeholders and provide support to all areas of DQC.

Essential job functions:
  • Draft newsletter articles, speeches, press releases, opinion pieces, talking points, and website content.
  • Update the organization's social media sites including Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook.
  • Support and manage specific projects, including the development and dissemination of publications, tools, and resources related to the annual release of Data for Action: DQC's State 
  • Analysis and enhancing DQC's ability to tell real-life stories through video, blogs, testimonials, podcasts, and DQC's Recognition Program.
  • Collect and disseminate daily education clips to staff.
  • Develop new content for the website and assist in any website redesign/reorganization.
  • Develop and support the organization's blog including writing content, editing content, and encouraging staff and external thought leaders to submit content.
  • Attend hearings, conferences, briefings, report releases, meetings, etc.
  • Maintain communications among DQC partners, funders, board of directors, and DQC staff, including monthly updates and e-blasts to various DQC distribution lists.
  • Oversee DQC's info@dataqualitycampaign.org email address and contact management system, Mailchimp.
  • Assist in the dissemination of press releases, media alerts, and other communications to members of the press and the organization's mailing list.
  • Communicate with members of the media on upcoming organization events, report releases, and other relevant activities.
  • Maintain inventory of printed and electronic publications.
  • Represent DQC in meetings and events in both formal and informal settings/presentations.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding corporate information.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with people of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives.
  • Reputation for being entrepreneurial, partnership-oriented, energetic, positive, and focused.
  • Ability to collaborate and partner with various stakeholders. 
  • Ability to operate effectively in a strongly team-based work setting.
  • Ability to take initiative on projects and complete them successfully without supervision.
  • Ability to work in start-up environment.
  • Ability to write, edit, and produce materials and resources for a variety of audiences, state policymakers in particular.
  • Ability to build and nurture partnerships with researchers, policymakers, and other nonprofit organizations.
  • Capacity to work well under pressure and in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Passionate belief in the power of data to improve student achievement and system performance from which comparable knowledge and abilities have been acquired may be considered.

Compensation: Starting salary commensurate with qualifications.  Excellent employee benefits and work environment.
