Subject: Full scholarship to teacher seminar in Washington, DC on RevWar

Know a middle or high school teacher who teaches American History? I have 2
spots left in a teacher seminar on the Revolutionary War June 18-22 in
Washington, DC. Their full travel, room and board will be covered. They
apply by submitting a lesson on the Revolutionary War. In addition to
scholar instruction, they will have generous research time to improve their
lesson in the best library on the American War of Independence in the
world. At the end of the week they will visit Yorktown and Colonial
Williamsburg. Professional development credit is also available. Email me
at etucker@societyofthecincinnati.org for more information. They can come
from anywhere in the US. Description below.

Teaching the American Revolution through the experience of those who fought
and won America's War for Independence

*Calling Social Studies Teachers*

At the close of our Revolutionary War, the officers of the Continental Army
formed the Society of the Cincinnati to preserve the memory of the
achievement of American independence.  The Society continues to pursue this
goal through educational programs focusing on the American Revolution
through the experience of those who fought and won America's War for
Independence.  It also maintains a premier library that collects,
preserves, and makes available for research printed and manuscript
materials relating to the people and events of the American Revolution.

The Society invites middle and high school teachers to participate in its
first Revolutionary Master Teachers Fellows Program, June 18-22, 2012, at
Anderson House, the Society's headquarters in Washington, D.C. Interested
teachers will submit their own Revolutionary War lesson plan that spans two
class periods, aligned with their state's standards and one or more of the
Society's *Revolutionary War literacy terms. Participants will receive
scholarly instruction and generous time in the Society's library to
research and improve their lessons. Once finalized, the lessons will be
posted on the Society's website to their credit. The week will close with a
site visit to Yorktown, Virginia. Teachers will receive professional
development credit.  Travel expenses, room and board will be provided.

Interested? Contact Eleesha Tucker, Director of Education, at
etucker@societyofthecincinnati.org
