[YEP-DC] Two Employment Opportunities at the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN)

The Consortium for School Networking (CoSN), a growing non-profit membership association for school district technology leaders, currently has two opening on our team.  CoSN's mission is to empower educational leaders to leverage technology to realize engaging learning environments.  The two positions are:

Position: Director, Online Communities of Practice
Overview: The Director for Online Communities of Practice will serve as the lead staff at CoSN for a project (Educational Technology-Focused Online Communities of Practice) funded by the Department of Education.  The online COPs developed under this contract will be designed to implement recommendations in ED's National Educational Technology Plan (NETP).

The Director will lead a team of consultants at CoSN to design, develop, facilitate and evaluate online community experiences for district leadership teams in an online community of practice.  The focus of the community is on team leadership for transitioning districts to a digital learning environment.  CoSN hosts the community in collaboration with the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation at North Carolina State University and the person in this role will be the primary contact for that collaboration.

Position: Project Manager, Participatory Learning
Overview: CoSN is seeking a strong project manager who is passionate about transforming learning with 21st century tools.  CoSN is doing extensive work in advancing its mission through the Participatory Learning in Schools: Policy & Leadership initiative.  This effort is based on the recognition that mobile devices and Web 2.0 tools provide powerful learning resources for our children and thus prepare them for the world beyond the classroom. The purpose of this initiative, which is sponsored by The Digital Media and Learning Initiative from The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, is to assist schools to adapt to this new reality.

In this project and other efforts, CoSN is doing major work around online Communities of Practice and their use in education.  CoSN has identified "leading edge" school districts with regard to their use of digital media and student-owned mobile devices at school and has formed a "cadre" that is participating in an online Community of Practice to draw support, information, and resources from peers who share similar goals. The goal is to distill the concrete "real-world" knowledge, experience, and best practices from the participating teams that will assist other districts who wish to move in the same direction.
