[YEP-DC] Summer Job Openings for Latin American Youth Center-Upward Bound Program

Hello YEP,

We are currently seeking applicants for several summer job positions at the Latin American Youth Center-Upward Bound Program.

Below is a brief description of the program and attached are the job descriptions for positions available:

About Upward Bound at the Latin American Youth Center

Upward Bound is a federally funded college access program that empowers potential first generation college students to complete secondary education and continue through college. Upward Bound provides academic advising, tutoring, college workshops, and a Saturday Academy during the school year. Students also participate in a six week summer component at the George Washington University that consists of two weeks of residential instruction, culminating with a week-long out-of state college tour. 2012 Summer Program: "Global Learning: Answering the Big Questions and how you shape the world"

Upward Bound is introducing Global Learning as an outcome embedded in classes, workshops, discussions, and programs. Teachers, advisors, and staff will develop content and teaching strategies for students to 1) Define Global Learning 2) Develop critical thinking and learning skills that address "Big Questions" about the conditions that shape our world 3) Apply as leaders and change agents in a global society. Global Learning enhances our charge to prepare students with an understanding about college, setting goals for higher education, and develop as independent and responsible adults.

Accepting applicants for the following positions:

1) Summer instructors in Math, English, Science, and Spanish

2) Teaching Assistants for Math, English, Science and Spanish courses

3) Resident Assistants for our summer residential component
