Program Manager, Policy
The National Board is seeking a dedicated professional to join their Policy team, reporting to the Vice President, Strategy and Policy. The National Board is launching targeted engagement efforts focused on teachers and policymakers in states and districts across the country. The Program Manager will play an integral role as a central hub for these engagement efforts, supporting the work of a cross-functional team of outreach directors.
Major Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage a state and district engagement planning and reporting process across a cross-functional team of outreach directors;
- Manage organizational progress towards strategic milestones and grant-funded deliverables, communicating successes and challenges and developing regular performance reports to a variety of audiences, especially National Board leadership and external partners;
- Manage ongoing communication and coordination across outreach staff engaged in state and district engagement activities, including maintenance of a collaborative online work environment and coordination of meetings;
- Collect and report data and coordinate regular program evaluation process to capture lessons learned and inform program adjustments;
- Manage budget development, tracking, and reporting to inform project management and ensure compliance with fiscal guidelines of the organization and funders; and
- Collaborate with cross-functional team of program managers to strengthen common organizational processes and share learnings.
Experience and Skills
- 5+ years of direct experience in a project or program management role with a demonstrated track record of success and experience in building program management systems
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to function within a fast-paced and fluid environment and handle multiple tasks within established deadlines
- Ability to work independently and to proactively initiate tasks based on identified needs
- Capacity to work in a collegial and collaborative environment that depends heavily on teamwork, including working regularly with remote colleagues as well as with colleagues who are traveling frequently
- Comfort in managing competing demands and engaging colleagues professionally and proactively to ensure forward progress
- Brings an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to build a collaborative working culture and efficient and effective work structures
- Excellent written and verbal skills, including the ability to produce quality written materials and the ability to revise and edit materials written by others
- Ability to work with technology, particularly MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google Drive; SurveyMonkey; and Salesforce
Education
A Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s preferred.
