[YEP-DC] Inspired Teaching Fellow - Earn your DC teacher certification!

What if every student had an Inspired Teacher who made the most of that child's innate desire to learn by fostering skills in Intellect, Inquiry, Imagination, and Integrity?

The Inspired Teacher Certification Program is now accepting applications for the 2013 cohort of Inspired Teaching Fellows. Grounded in the belief that teaching is an intellectually rigorous and demanding profession, the  Inspired Teacher Certification Program uses the unique structure of the residency model to prepare new teachers. Participants in our residency program have a full year to develop the skills of engaging diverse students, managing classrooms, and planning effective lessons by working alongside an experienced Lead Teacher. Instead of being fast-tracked into the teaching profession, our Fellows are better prepared for the challenges of teaching in an urban, high-poverty classroom.

Inspired Teachers are committed to being changemakers in their classrooms and beyond. Of all program alumni, 93% are still working in the field of education, with 75% working in DC public and charter schools

True shifts in the educational landscape will happen only with and  by teachers. Do you know someone who is committed to improving education in DC schools by changing the role of teacher from information provider to Instigator of Thought?

The first deadline to apply to be a 2013 Inspired Teaching Fellow is January 18th, with a final deadline of February 28.
