[YEP-DC] Job Posting: Lead Instructor at ALEKS

The ALEKS Corporation, a McGraw Hill subsidiary dedicated to creating web-based educational software, is looking for a lead instructor. This is a paid 9-month position of $20/hour in Alexandria, VA. Selected candidates must commit to two Saturdays a month (10:00am to 1:00pm) to participate in student instruction. They must also allot 4–8 additional hours a month for pre- and post-instruction activities to address preparation, evaluation, and documentation for the Ab7G Initiative. The exact number of hours will be discussed with the selected candidate.

Duration:9 months (September 20, 2014 – June 20, 2015) with an option to extend.

Description:Lead instructor will work with third grade students enrolled in the "Algebra by 7th Grade" program. The lead instructor serves as the senior instructor driving student learning
within the AB7G model and developing an overarching atmosphere in which students
may maximize their learning potential. The lead instructor must be proficient in
teaching mathematics to young children and have the motivation and enthusiasm to do
so on a bi-monthly basis.

Lead instructor will have the following responsibilities:
- Direct instructional preparation as well as the development of learning objectives
for each session
- Track the progression of the student population as whole within the ALEKS
program
- Monitor and analyze the impact of the ALEKS program on students' academic
records and standardized tests
- Strengthen the math comprehension of all students within the AB7G Program
- Administer progressive testing to students to track their progress within ALEKS
- Structure and develop curricula within the ALEKS program most conducive to
students' ability to learn new math concepts
