[YEP-DC] Please post: Job Opening: Program Assistant at After school Program

Daybreak Ministries is looking for two program assistants to provide homework help and tutoring to students in our after school program. The two work collaboratively to support the students' academic development in keeping with program goals and objectives.

 

Daybreak is a faith-based, community based program that provides after school programming, tutoring and mentoring to children in Northeast, D.C.

 

The program assistant's responsibilities include:

  • ·         Assisting lead teaching in maintaining schedule and order throughout program time; help ensure the day flows smoothly, all goals are accomplished, and children experience a safe and stable environment.
  • ·         Assisting in managing classroom and monitoring children's behaviors; adopt and implement program wide discipline policy
  • ·         Helping children with homework, teach effective study skills, ensure assignments are completed
  • ·         Providing additional learning opportunities for students by facilitating educational games and  activities; working with children on building academic skills as needed
  • ·         Creating and maintaining an enriching learning environment in the classroom
  • ·         Communicating with parents as needed regarding students
  • ·         Teaching a Bible lesson daily
  • ·         Participating in professional development

 The program assistant works Monday – Thursday, 3:00 – 6:30 pm, some Fridays, 3:30 – 7:30.


Requirements: Bachelor's degree; Minimum two years of experience working with children in an educational setting 


Graduate students, tutors, and current and retired teachers are encouraged to apply
