[dcab-l] The Bluegrass Club rides again!

The Bluegrass Club centered in Haymarket, VA, will start its FOURTH session on October 2 at 7:00 pm.

The Club has had three successful sessions over the last 8 months, meeting on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays to play in bands. Playing in bands, the members have developed techniques for playing with others, have performed on stage, have developed repertoire (at one tune per meeting - - so far about 16 tunes, have gotten to know other musicians and have had more fun than is generally allowed the people at Murphy's Pub on a weekend. Some bands have played gigs outside the club including on stage in the Gregory Theater at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in August.

The Club (usually having over 20 members in any one session) are of all skill levels (from 0 to experienced) and learn fast through interaction with other members. We have witnessed the "newbies" rise from hardly chording to taking breaks on stage. New tunes are announced well in advance of the meetings and, hopefully, by meeting time all members are familiar with the tune. After 6 meetings an "Open Mic" night is held with all bands appearing, families and public invited.

THIS is the way to learn how to play with others in a band and will be invaluable in learning to jam.

Dues are $50 for the entire 3 months (6 meetings). Absolutely non-profit - the dues pay the rent. Meetings are on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays from 7:00 - 9:30 pm at the former Pace School, 14600 Washington Street, Haymarket (John Marshall Hiway, Rt. 55). This is one mile off the I-66, Hiway 15 exit).

We meet this Thursday (Sept. 18) and you are invited to come to visit AND participate.
