DESCRIPTION
E.L. Haynes Public Charter School seeks a full-time Family Engagement Manager to support, connect, engage, and recruit families in service to E.L. Haynes' mission of college success for every student. The position of Family Engagement Manager is a full-time position contained within the Marketing and Development Office and reports to the Chief Marketing and Development Officer.
Position responsibilities include:
- Family Engagement
- Providing organizational support and leadership to the Haynes Family Team.
- Organizing and leading a cadre of room parents to connect and communication with families.
- Developing and organizing workshops and events to support Haynes families and encourage family interaction and connection.
- Plan and lead year-long activities to support families in their transitions from Elementary School to Middle School, Middle School to High School, and High School to College with the goal of ensuring strong retention from school to school and family preparation for college.
- Support parent/teacher conferences with a goal of 100% family attendance at conferences throughout the year.
- Coordinate engagement activities with Student Wellness and College Counseling teams.
- Student Recruitment
- Develop and lead a comprehensive slate of recruitment events and activities that ensures a large and diverse pipeline of students to all E.L. Haynes grades.
- Student Enrollment
- Assist families with on-site application support.
- Coordinate enrollment days and times across all three schools.
- Ensuring adequate follow-up to families for enrollment.
- Other duties as assigned
E.L. Haynes seeks applicants for this position with the following qualities and qualifications:
- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, with the ability to read, write, and speak in both languages.
- Warm, personable, and compassionate; able to work with families who have a variety of needs.
- Excellent follow-through.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, including strong writing, proofreading, and editing.
- Ability to work both independently and with supervision.
- Discretion and mature judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Commitment to education and to E.L. Haynes' mission.
- Commitment to working within a diverse community of students, staff, and families.
- Flexibility in a dynamic environment.
- Computer proficiency, including MSOffice, Google, basic design (Publisher, InDesign, DreamWeaver), and Internet tools.
- Bachelor's degree required.

Founded in 2004, the award-winning E.L. Haynes Public Charter School currently serves 1,200 students from grades Pre-K through twelve. E.L. Haynes is named for Dr. Euphemia Lofton Haynes - the first African-American woman to receive a doctorate in mathematics and a DC public school teacher for 47 years.

Haynes student of every race, socioeconomic status, ability level, and home language will reach high levels of academic achievement and be prepared to succeed at the college of his or her choice. Every E.L. Haynes student will be adept at mathematical reasoning, will use scientific methods effectively to frame and solve problems, and will develop the lifelong skills needed to be a successful individual, an active community member, and a responsible citizen.
