Job Title: Evaluation Associate

Job Status: Part-Time – 20 hours per week

Annual Salary: $20,000 – at $15 per hour

Organization Summary:

Capital Partners for Education (CPE) is a certified 501(c)3 organization founded in 1993 with the goal of preparing students from low-income families to graduate high school and go on to enroll and graduate from college. CPE matches professionals with a college degree working in the DC metro area with high school and college students at charter and private schools. This mentoring relationship coupled with CPE staff services provides a holistic support system for the mentees, including life skills, college readiness, career planning, supplementary academic tutoring, financial support, and extracurricular activities.

Job Summary:

The Evaluation Associate will be responsible for collecting data on both mentees and mentors in the CPE high school program and the college program launched in 2013. This data will be collected at intervals throughout the school year and summertime through two primary mechanisms: (1) surveys distributed to participants via the e-mentoring platform, "iMentor", and (2) focus groups and workshops. Additional data-tracking is possible through the mentees' school records and data that CPE records independently. Data collected will be compiled into a comprehensive database, allowing trends to be tracked over time that will illuminate how CPE is impacting mentors, mentees, mentees' families, and its school partners. Outcomes of interest for the mentees include academic performance, college readiness, career planning, financial stability, health, and others.  Outcomes of interest for mentors include program satisfaction, awareness of social justice issues in the DC area, professional impact, civic engagement, and others. This critical information will allow CPE to determine the effectiveness of its internal processes, to identify areas for improvement, and to grow to scale.

Responsibilities:

·         Lead the design and execution of data collection and database development, primarily utilizing the iMentor platform

·         Research effective evaluation strategies for mentorship programs and incorporate these best practices into the CPE evaluation methodology

·         Develop succinct, meaningful reports illustrating data-based trends to indicate the CPE program's strengths and areas of improvement

·         Report to the Executive Director as-needed to continually communicate plans, goals,  and results as these unfold

·         Present recommendations for potential areas of improvement to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors

·         Work in a team environment to ensure all development activities are conducted in a consistent, cohesive manner and meet stated commitment deadlines

·         Devote a minimum of 20 hours per week to these responsibilities, working both at the CPE main office and remotely when appropriate

Eligibility

·         Bachelor's Degree, with coursework preferably in public policy, education, economics, statistics, and/or social work.

·         Graduate Degree or current enrollment in a graduate program, with coursework preferably in public policy, education, economics, statistics, and/or social work.

·         Two years minimum work experience in a position requiring data-tracking and evaluations is preferred.

·         Two years minimum work experience with an organization or company in the education sector is preferred.

·         Strong experience and competency with excel spreadsheets and STATA

·         Experience with the Institutional Review Board approval process a plus.

·         Experience working with low-income populations a plus

·         Resident of the DC Metro Area for FY 2015

·         High level of productivity, analytical ability, attention to detail, and organization skills.

·         Strong communication and collaboration skills for excellent internal interaction, and interaction with mentors, mentees, and parents.
