[YEP-DC] New YEP-DC Blog Post: Don't Suspend Students; Teach Them

School leaders and educators have historically relied on suspensions to get rid of discipline issues in their classrooms. But more often than not, this type of punishment only reinforces disruptive behavior. Kicking kids out of school doesn't help them learn how they should behave properly -- but teaching can. Recess blogger Connie Ward, an elementary school counselor, explains how behavior is taught in her school -- from modeling to positive reinforcement to straightforward instruction.
