The Office of Human Capital in DC Public Schools is now accepting applications for the new Strategic School Operations (SSO) pilot! Please see the attached overview and position descriptions for more information.
Beginning in the 2014-15 school year, DCPS will pilot a dramatically new approach to managing school operations based on the work of the highest-performing charter and district schools across the country. Nine DCPS schools will participate in the SSO pilot, with the hope of expanding this model across the district in future years. Anacostia HS, Bancroft ES, Brightwood EC, Columbia Heights EC, Coolidge HS, Jefferson MS, Leckie ES, Powell ES, and Marie Reed ES.
Pilot schools will add a Director of School Operations to lead a newly-formed school-based team charged with ensuring that operations are high-functioning so that school leaders and teachers can focus exclusively on student achievement and classroom instruction.
Applications are now open for the following roles, and position descriptions are attached:
· Director of the SSO Pilot to lead the design and implementation of the pilot
· Director of School Operations
· Coordinator of School Operations
· Assistant of School Operations
Candidates can apply for one of the above positions by emailing a resume and cover letter to teacher.effectiveness@dc.gov.
There are three application deadlines: April 10, April 28, and May 19. However, applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, so candidates are strongly encouraged to apply as early as possible. Candidates will need to successfully pass through a centralized selection process before interviewing with principals at pilot schools.
Please note that the salaries in the position descriptions indicate the initial hiring bands, but the DCPS Human Resources team conducts salary negotiations with candidates and determines salary placement based on a standardized review of candidates' resume, experience, education, and any other special considerations. The maximum salaries for the roles are as follows: $118,486 for the Director of the SSO Pilot; $108,162 for the Director of School Operations; $80,483 for the Coordinator; and $45,943 for the Assistant.
