We're looking for a School Counselor for SY13-14 to join our team. The School Counselor is responsible for providing counseling services to elementary school students. This position will also collaborate with appropriate personnel to ensure positive educational and counseling practices for the students.

Here are the essential job responsibilities for the part time School Counselor:
Initiate counseling session with students needing support communicating with peers, teachers and in developing strong self-concept, problem-solving skills.
Provide ongoing individual counseling of students when appropriate, regarding personal-emotional adjustments and support as related to the educational needs of students.
Monitor students with academic deficiencies and repeated behavioral problems.
Create and monitor Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals. Participate in IEP meetings when necessary.
Demonstrate responsibility initiating student contact in classroom or related setting to enhance information/developmental process.
Work with parents in helping students in developing educational and/or advanced training opportunities by deepened understanding of the student's needs, capacities and adjustment.
Explore insights with professional staff to strengthen positive educational and counseling processes for students.
Consult with teachers, school administration, and/or parents to help develop a clearer perception of the student's needs, characteristics and behavior as related to education.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in counseling, school social work, or related fields.
Counseling or social work experience in a school setting. Early childhood and/or elementary experience preferred.
Knowledge of school counseling work methods and procedures.
Appreciation, experience, and understanding of Chinese culture.
Excellent verbal and writing communication skills and strong motivational skills.
Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team.
