Complete an application for our alternative teacher preparation program.  All you need is a bachelor's degree (by May 2015), a 3.0 GPA, and no previous teacher certifications.  We accept all majors!

 

Urban Teacher Center is revolutionizing the way people are prepared for a career in teaching. Through hands-on training, coaching and peer supports, we are working to give teachers the skills they need to ensure that students in high-poverty communities are actually learning and reaching their potential. By doing so, our teachers are changing the lives of the students, families and communities they serve as well their own. 

 

Participants Receive:

- $30,000 scholarship towards master's degree with dual focus (content AND special education)

- $20,000 stipend for residency/training year

- $3,000 healthcare coverage

- $2,000 room/board for summer institute

- $1,500 books/materials

- Guaranteed job in Washington, DC or Baltimore, MD schools (starts around $50,000 per year)

- Two teacher certifications (content AND special education)
