The DC College Access Program (DC-CAP) is recruiting male mentors for its Alpha Leadership Project (ALP). ALP is a program designed to assist young minority men in DC Public and Public Charter Schools. ALP strives to assist and empower students through the educational process, improve academic achievement, increase the possibility that they graduate from high school, and be socially and academically prepared to enroll and graduate from college. The program consists of parent and student workshops, extracurricular activities, and dedicated mentors. Currently the Alpha Leadership Project is available at the following schools: Capital City Public Charter School, Coolidge, Dunbar, Roosevelt, and Wilson Senior High Schools.
The White House’s My Brother’s Keeper 90-day recommendations indicate that when young men of color have a mentor they are more likely to graduate from high school and enroll in college. So we need your help!
If you are interested in volunteering, please see the attached Alpha Leadership Project mentor application. After you have completed the application you can email the document to keadrick.peters@dccap.org or fax to (202) 783-4026. For more information or if you have any questions please feel free to call the ALP team at (202) 783-2716 or visit our website at http://alphadev.dccap.org. We would love to have you become a mentor with the Alpha Leadership Project!
Sincerely,
Matthew Avery, MS
