The Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) is requesting applications from candidates interested in serving on the State Title III Advisory Committee. The Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) requires that each State Education Agency maintain such a committee to ensure that children who are limited English proficient (LEPs), including immigrant students, are provided with high-quality instructional programs. The State Title III Committee serves as an advisory body that will support OSSE in carrying out its responsibilities under Title III of the ESEA for the District of Columbia.
The OSSE is seeking a variety of applicants for membership to ensure that different stakeholders are represented. These include: LEA and school administrators, teachers, parents, and other members of community organizations. The OSSE requests that you consider applying to the State Title III Advisory Committee and distribute this application form widely to other potential interested individuals.
Download the application for the State Title III Advisory Committee: Completed applications (2 pages) must be submitted, accompanied by a current resumé electronically to OSSE.Title3@dc.gov (Attention: Albery Melo).
The deadline for the submission of applications is Friday, January 10, 2014.
The first meeting for all individuals selected to serve on the State Title III Advisory Committee will be on Wednesday, January 22, from 4:00 to 6:30PM at 810 First Street NE, 3nd Floor, Washington, D.C. 20002.
