[YEP-DC] Event posting: Refer students to FLOC for spring 2014! Learn more on Dec. 16th.

Hi everyone,

For Love of Children (FLOC) is a local non-profit organization providing out-of-school time services to help low-income DC students succeed from first grade through college and career.  You're invited to attend a FLOC Partner Information Session to learn about referring YOUR students to our FREE educational programs.
  • Monday, December 16th – 5:00-6:00pm – 1763 Columbia Road NW
For Love of Children still has space in its school year 2013-2014 programs, and we're hoping you can help us get the word out to students and families who would benefit from our programs in spring 2014 and beyond.  This information session will give new and existing partners a chance to learn everything there is to know about:
  • The Neighborhood Tutoring Program (reading and math tutoring for grades 1-12)
  • The Scholars Program (college access and success, experiential education for grades 6-12)
  • What kinds of students are successful in our programs
  • The referral process
  • The enrollment process
  • Anything else you've wanted to know, ask, or share with us.
Please visit the invitation online for more information and to RSVP:   http://anyvite.com/events/home/vgvwumt0im

You're also welcome and encouraged to invite others to attend the event, either with you or in your place.  Are there colleagues at your school or organization who could also refer students?  Colleagues at other schools/organizations who should know more about what we do and how to connect their students?  Teachers*, counselors, principals, youth workers, social workers, and more are all welcome.   Just be sure that all attendees RSVP at the link above.

*We hold three of these sessions a year, and this is the first one that hasn't been at 9:00am.  We're specifically hoping a late afternoon/evening session will be more friendly to teachers interested in referring students to FLOC.  So please, help us spread the word!

(If you can't make the event on the 16th but would still like to learn more about our programs and referral process, please send me an email at
emetz@floc.org to arrange a separate conversation.)

I hope to see you here at FLOC on December 16th!

Yours in partnership,

Elizabeth Metz
