Position Overview
Teacher Selection Liaisons (TSLs) have the unique opportunity to shape the new teacher cohort for the 2014-2015 school year by facilitating the selection of highly effective teachers to join the DCPS teacher force. As part of the Teacher Recruitment and Selection team, TSLs will be primarily responsible for executing a critical step of the DCPS teacher selection process: a 30-minute teaching audition conducted in a DCPS classroom.
The Teacher Selection Liaison reports to the Manager, Teacher Selection.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties, and/or skills required. Other duties may be assigned.
· Organizes teaching auditions based on the schedules of teaching candidates, top DCPS teachers, and DCPS schools.
· Coordinates key candidate cultivation efforts to facilitate hiring opportunities between teaching candidates and DCPS school leaders.
· Films auditions and uploads video and documentation daily to a central online database in order to facilitate principals' important hiring decisions.
· Communicates with candidates in a timely manner to answer questions about the teacher selection process and hiring events through in-person contact and via email.
· Liaises with key stakeholders in other Office of Human Capital divisions in order to support the Teacher Recruitment and Selection Team on various projects.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree.
· Excellent communication skills (both written and oral).
· Proficiency with technology, particularly video equipment.
· Ability to work in ambiguous situations, while maintaining a sense of possibility.
· Strong organizational skills, including keen attention to detail and the ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
· Ability to work independently.
· Strong critical thinking skills.
· Customer service focus.
· Previous exposure to or experience in the education sector preferred.
