Magnet Schools of America (MSA) has two full-time internship openings for intelligent, driven, and enterprising undergraduate or graduate students interested in learning more about education policy and nonprofit work in Washington, D.C. Through their work with Magnet Schools of America, both interns will gain specific knowledge about magnet schools, the school choice movement, and the current successes and challenges of the K-12 public education system across the United States.
The Policy intern position provides unparalleled exposure to Capitol Hill and its inner workings. The Policy intern, an unpaid position, will attend education-related, Congressional briefings and hearings as well as other events throughout the city. The policy intern will analyze data related to magnet school performance and incorporate that information into his/her policy analyses. This position is a great opportunity for a high-achieving individual to apply policy analysis and research skills to the K-12 educational landscape.
The Communications & Events intern will monitor and follow social media outlets for connections to magnet schools and share relevant content with our membership. (S)he also will draft press releases and articles for our organizational blogs and monthly newsletter, as well as be involved with the logistics of planning national events for our association. Preparing for the conference involves a variety of skills, including communications, data management, design, and marketing. The Communications & Events intern, also unpaid, is a great way to learn about the many ways nonprofits communicate and engage with their supporters.
