January Concert - Baltimore

Robin & Linda Williams and
Their Fine Group
Friday, Jan. 10
Concert at 8 PM; doors open at 7:30 PM

For four decades, Robin & Linda Williams have made it their mission to perform a robust blend of bluegrass, folk, old-time and acoustic country that combines wryly observant lyrics with a wide ranging melodicism. The list of artists who have covered their original songs include some of the greats of country music, names like Emmylou Harris, Tom T. Hall, Tim & Mollie O'Brien, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Kathy Mattea and Mary Black. Their songwriting has garnered rave reviews from the likes of Billboard, USA Today, CMT and The Washington Post, while A Prairie Home Companion's creator and host Garrison Keillor says, "They have been on regularly every year since [the show began], so they really are representative of the heart, the core and soul of our show." Robin & Linda have made appearances on such major programs as The Grand Ole Opry, Austin City Limits, Music City Tonight, Mountain Stage, and they continue to make frequent appearances on A Prairie Home Companion. They were also prominently featured in the motion picture written by Garrison Keillor and directed by critically acclaimed filmmaker Robert Altman. Robin & Linda Williams are accompanied by Their Fine Group: mandolinist Jim Watson and fiddler Chris Brashear

January Concert - Westminster
Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen
Saturday, January 11
Concert at 8 PM; doors open at 7:30 PM

Since Frank Solivan left the cold climes of Alaska for the bluegrass hotbed of Washington, D.C., he's built a reputation as a monster mandolinist - and become a major festival attraction with his band, Dirty Kitchen. Solivan and banjoist Mike Munford (2013 International Bluegrass Music Association Banjo Player of the Year), guitarist Chris Luquette (IBMA Instrumentalist of the Year Momentum Award winner) and doghouse bassist Dan Booth simmer a bluegrass/newgrass stew from instrumental, vocal and songwriting skills so hot, they also earned 2012 and 2013 Best Bluegrass Band honors from the Washington Area Music Association AND they have just won top honors from PopMatters.com for the Best Bluegrass of 2013! It flavors every note of their new album, On the Edge, which Engine 145 dubbed, "a fine sophomore release from one of the most exciting bands in bluegrass today." Let the hottest bluegrass band around warm up your January night!
