[YEP-DC] Job Opportunity - Educational Technology, Library and Media Specialist - Washington Middle School for Girls, DC

The Educational Technology, Library and Media Specialist will work with the WMSG team to promote excellent education at WMSG. Specifically, the ETLMS will work with the two Campus Administrators to manage library and media resources. The ETLMS will play an integral role in developing our technology and educational media strategy by leading the Technology Team. The ETLMS will continually research best practices for various educational technology tools, and will share them by organizing and conducting workshops or one-on-one sessions with teaching faculty on classroom use of technology and media resources. The ETLMS will also continue to develop a technology literacy program for families.

The ETLMS will have two primary roles: working with technology and working with both libraries.

Technology:

  • Work with teachers on how to use tablets/iPads, Promethean Boards, and other technology in the classroom
  • In collaboration with appropriate staff, maintain and organize hardware including laptops, tablets, and iPads.
  • Work with teachers individually to improve integration of technology use within their curricula to enhance the delivery of subject matter and to develop student technology skills
  • Become fluent in use of the Promethean Boards and provide support to teachers on their use.
  • Become fluent in the use of Blackboard Engage (formerly Edline) web platform and guide teachers in developing their classroom pages
  • Administer literacy program for families (including technology literacy)
  • Collaborate with Campus Administrators to identify core technology and information competencies that students should have by graduation, and work to implement those in varying aspects of the WMSG experience
  • Coordinate with all external technology contractors and vendors, including the IT team.

Library:

  • Maintain both campus libraries (with the help of volunteers and the Reading Specialist)
  • Manage book donations
  • Manage online catalog (Follett/Destiny Quest)
  • Support teacher curriculum with library resources as needed

Applicants should:

  • Possess a B. A. from an accredited college or university
  • Have or be working towards a degree in Educational Technology, Library/Information Science, or related field
  • Have teaching experience with both working adults and children
  • Work well in a small personal setting
  • Take a team approach to teaching
  • Be creative and flexible
  • Be proactive
