[YEP-DC] Volunteer with YEP-DC at Servathon on April 27!

Hello YEP-DC members,

Spring is here and Servathon is right around the corner. Servathon has a 23-year history of bringing together thousands of area volunteers for two days of extraordinary service. Volunteers all around DC will complete hands-on projects this year at area nonprofits and schools. They will paint, plant, build, and not only save area nonprofits and schools hundreds of thousands of dollars, but they will also make the region a better and brighter place.

This year, YEP-DC will be lending a hand. Our volunteers will be working at Walker Jones Education Campus. We will be creating two new gardens, both of which will require removing turf, tilling (by hand with gardening forks), composting, and raking. The garden will be planted with soy, sweet potatoes, and peanuts. The second garden will be planted with corn, runner beans, and heirloom pumpkins. Volunteers will also be prepping ground for blueberries, transplanting two fig trees, and building a couple of rabbit hutches.

We invite you to be one of the nearly 10,000 volunteers who will engage in service at Servathon. Feel free to share this far and wide. Here are the vitals:

1.       Log on to http://servathon2013.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=1061723

2.       Click register for servathon on the left hand side and hit agree to the waiver

3.       Click on Join a team and scroll down to the YEP-DC team

4.       Create a profile (Note: There is a $25 fee that helps cover the cost of supplies and HandsOn Greater DC programming)

5.       When it's all done, please shoot an email to Yair at yairinspektor@gmail.com so YEP-DC also knows you are attending
