Horton's Kids is a 24-year-old, community-based nonprofit that provides wrap-around programs to more than 500 children and their families in Washington, DC's Ward 8. The cornerstone of our model is the thrice-weekly, one-on-one tutoring program in the Rayburn House Office Building and the Department of Education. Our services also include an older youth program, family empowerment activities, health and basic needs support, educational advocacy, and enrichment activities. Horton's Kids received the 2011 Washington Post Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Management and was recognized as one of "the best community-based nonprofits in the Washington region" by the Catalogue for Philanthropy: Greater Washington.
